Challenge
BH Field provides ABA therapy and guides parents through every step of their child's care. Its internal platform, used daily by BCBAs, RBTs and their managers, had grown without a clear architecture: repeated screens and unexpected jumps made navigation confusing.
Session documentation was a recurring pain point: after every session, RBTs had to write a summary using the specific language ABA therapy requires for insurance coverage. The platform also lacked basic accessibility options, adding friction to tools the team relies on every day.
Goal
My goal was to make the platform easier to navigate and to reduce the documentation effort for RBTs, while keeping the clinical language required for coverage intact.
I worked in a three-person squad with two developers, collaborating closely with the 5 RBT managers and 20+ RBTs so every change reflected how the team actually works day to day.
Solution
I restructured the platform's information architecture across 10 screens, removing repeated screens and dead-end jumps, and designed 5 satellite products: AI session notes for RBTs and BCBAs, the intake process, brochures and the website.
The AI notes generator helps RBTs write their session summaries with the terminology ABA coverage requires, simplifying a task they repeat after every session. I also improved accessibility with configurable color modes. Everything was built on a Shadcn + Tailwind 4 design system set up in Subframe, with custom components designed on top of it for a consistent, dev-ready handoff.
