Promoting accessibility from education. I served as an instructor for Educación IT, a remote education platform, delivering three sessions on web accessibility to students worldwide.
Breaking Down Barriers in Digital Accessibility
This experience reinforced my belief that practical knowledge and real-world application are essential to bridging the gap between theory and effective implementation.
The biggest problem for the digital industry is that accessibility has no place on the business agenda. While companies talk about compliance, many fail to understand that accessibility is not just a legal obligation—it's a moral responsibility and a business opportunity. Through my sessions at Educación IT, I worked to shift this perspective by teaching students the practical application of W3C guidelines and accessibility standards.
From Theory to Practice
Each session was designed to go beyond theoretical knowledge. I incorporated real-world examples and case studies aligned with W3C accessibility guidelines, challenging students to think critically about implementation.
One of the most revealing classroom activities asked students to identify companies demonstrating AAA-level web accessibility compliance—a notably difficult task that highlighted how rare true accessibility excellence is in the industry.
Collaborative Learning & Empowerment
In collaboration with my teammates Mari and Nati, we developed comprehensive instructional materials to support a group of 15 participants across multiple sessions.
Our focus was on empowering learners with practical knowledge they could immediately apply to their own projects. By making accessibility tangible and achievable, we aimed to inspire the next generation of developers and designers to prioritize inclusive design from the start of their careers.
